Parish Council

The purpose of the Parish Council is to:
1. Provide an opportunity whereby the laity, religious and clergy meet to share the responsibility of the whole parish life

2. To be a vehicle for communication between the parish and diocesan bodies

The council meets on the first Wednesday of each month (except January) at 7.30pm in the Parish Hall, unless otherwise advertised.

There is both a men’s conference and women’s (St Clare’s) conference which seek to help those in need. Both conferences engage in practical works to help those in difficulty and actively seek more members to help them in their work.

Family Groups

Family Groups meet on a regular basis, and are a means of developing support and friendship within an extended family. Family Groups participate in a wide range of activities, such as bonfire nights and BBQ along-side the river. They are a great way for all parishioners to meet other people, particularly families with young children.

Baptism Program

The Baptism program is an opportunity for parents and godparents to learn about the Baptism ceremony and reflect on the importance of the sacrament to their family and child’s faith development. It also importantly provides an opportunity for people to meet others and feel connected to our parish of Sacred Heart.
Recently after much searching we came upon a new Baptism program which involves couples meeting together for approx one hour to explore what it means to be a parent and what the Sacrament of Baptism offers for their child and family. This program has a friendly and non-threatening style based around a modern DVD and discussion.

Cursillo

“Cursillo” is a Spanish word that means a short course in Christian living. It’s more than just a good weekend of prayer, singing and laughter, but a renewal of our faith in the company of other spiritual travellers.
Each year separate men’s and women’s Cursillo weekends are held.

Spirituality in the Pub

Spirituality in the Pub was established in Albury in 2001 and is a means of establishing a forum of discussion within the Catholic Church in an informal setting. It gives people an opportunity to speak and to be heard, addressing issues of consequence in today’s world.
The evenings are held on the second Tuesday of alternate months, and are informative and thought provoking, often an amusing way to discuss ideas that are topical and relevant to our world.
